Iceland’s Liberation Orchestra has been active since 2010. The driving force behind the project is Haukur Gröndal. Over the past 14 years of its operation, numerous instrumentalists have participated in the orchestra’s projects. The repertoire has been diverse and drawn from various directions. Over the past four years, collaboration with vocalist Sverrir Guðjónsson has resulted in three distinct works with lyrics, music, and arrangements by Haukur Gröndal. At the Reykjavik Jazz Festival 2024, the orchestra will revisit some of its early works and perform pieces by various composers, including Óskar Guðjónsson and Haukur Gröndal.
All voices come to life in an adventurous spirit, engaging in a dynamic interaction with established forms.
