Óskar Kjartansson

Óskar Kjartansson is an icelandic drummer and composer which has been an active participant of the Icelandic jazz scene for more than a decade. He started out drumming at 11 year old end studied at the Tónlistarskóli FÍH. He has played and recorded with many of the notable jazz musicians in Iceland both here and abroad. Although Óskar plays mostly jazz music, he has been caught playing everything from classical percussion to the most booming hip hop. Óskar leads his own band which is working on his debut album this fall. He has also been an active member of Orphic Oxtra, Blæti, Nóra, Skarkali and Útidúr and currently is a member of the DÓH-tríó, Camus Kvartett, Sons of Gíslason and Óregla.
