Composer and saxophonist Tumi Árnason presents his piece SÓLVERK, for 15 improvising musicians.
From our vantage point on Earth, the Sun may appear like an unchanging source of light and heat in the sky. But the Sun is a dynamic star, constantly changing and sending energy out into space.

Tumi Árnason is an Icelandic composer, improviser and saxophonist. He studied composition at The Iceland University of the Arts. He has released three albums under his own name. Hlýnun, his quartet album featuring Magnús Jóhann, Skúli Sverrisson and Magnús Trygvason Eliassen, was chosen as Jazz composition of the year at the Icelandic Music Awards in 2022. He has released two duo albums with Magnús Trygvason Eliassen on drums, the latest Gleypir tígur gleypir ljón in 2023. He has worked in theatre and film as both composer and performer, and composed the music for the Icelandic National Theatre’s production of Sarah Kane’s play Phaedra’s Love in 2023.
