Phil Doyle
Phillip J. Doyle holds a Doctorate in Jazz Studies from the University of Miami (Frost School of Music)t He has lectured and held faculty positions at Eastern Washington University, The University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and the University of Miami. He first came to Iceland in 2013 and has since found a home in Akureyri, now Reykjavik. Phillip is a pianist, clarinetist, flutist, and composer, who speaks Spanish and Polish, but has yet to figure out Icelandic, because its hard. Notable performances have been with Mike Stern, David Liebman, Maria Schneider, James Newton Howard, James Moody, Vince Mendoza, John Fedchock, two world tours with KC and the Sunshine Band, performances at the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Chicago Jazz Festival, Gloria Estefan, Dave Douglas, -and now Reykjavík Jazz.
