16:00
At this concert, supported by the Children’s Culture Fund, the School Band of Vesturbær and Miðbær (SVoM) conducted by Samúel Jón Samúelsson, Litlasveit, and Barnadjass will perform at Iðnó as part of Reykjavík Jazz Festival 2025.
Djasskrakkar, the hosts of the Barnadjass festival in Mosfellsbær, will also take the stage. The group consists of six children aged 10–15 who have learned to play jazz by ear under the guidance of Odd André Elveland. Sunna Gunnlaugs will lead the ensemble in this performance.
Litlasveit and the Big Band of SVoM are both offshoots of the School Band of Vesturbær and Miðbær. Litlasveit is made up of six SVoM members who enjoy playing together and composing their own music.
Although the group is relatively new, it was officially formed earlier this year. Litlasveit plays music inspired by various styles, including jazz, rock, and contemporary genres. The band members are Björn (electric bass and guitar), Frosti Pétur (trumpet), Ísar Orri (drums), Kári Kolbeinn (piano), Styrkár Flóki (tuba), and Tryggvi Kristinn (saxophone).
The SVoM Big Band has participated in the annual SR big band marathon in recent years and is composed of 25 SVoM members. The band is conducted by Samúel Jón Samúelsson.
