The bassist Sigmar Þór Matthíasson released his third solo album last autumn.
The album, titled Uneven Equator, is a kind of logical yet independent continuation of his previous release Meridian Metaphor, with the addition of vocals and string instruments expanding the soundscape — blending contemporary jazz with Eastern world music in an original way.

Sigmar’s ensemble has performed widely across Iceland over the past five years and was awarded Performer of the Year (Group) in the Jazz & Blues category at the Icelandic Music Awards in 2022. The project was also recently nominated for two Icelandic Music Awards 2025 — Album of the Year and Composition of the Year.
At the concert, the ensemble will perform music from both of the aforementioned albums. There might even be a chance to hear brand new material.
