Rebekka Blöndal

Rebekka Blöndal is one of the country’s leading jazz singers and has been nominated for the Icelandic Music Awards 2022 as a performer in the jazz and blues music category.
Rebekka and guitarist Ásgeir Ásgeirsson have been working together for the past few years, and the result of that collaboration is an album titled Ljóð. It was released in August 2022 and is an eight-song album that contains mostly original material and Icelandic sung jazz with Latin and pop influences.
But it is not the only reason why Rebekka becomes a key singer of the icelandic jazz stage : she has performed Billie’s music on several tribute occasions and now wishes to present her music at the Reykjavík Jazz Festival. Indeed, this year marks 110 years since the birth of the singer Eleanora Fagan, later known as Billie Holiday. Billie’s voice was unique, and her interpretation of music and lyrics was unlike any other.
