Ingibjörg also performs regularly under her own name with her band. She has released two solo albums, Wood / work (2017) and Meliae (2020), the latter of which won the Kraumur Prize and was chosen album of the year by Morgunblaðið and straum.is.” – Iceland Symphony Orchestra
Eonia is a new piece written by bassist and composer Ingibjörg Turchi. It has been in the works over the past year, following the release of her second album Stropha in 2023. On that album, three woodwind players joined her five-piece band, expanding the sonic palette and inspiring the direction of this new work.
Composed with the interplay of woodwinds and rhythm section in mind, Eonia blends lush harmonies, open forms, and free improvisation. As with Ingibjörg’s previous releases, the piece finds its shape through a balance of spontaneity and carefully crafted arrangements — forming the distinctive soundscape she has been developing in recent years.
