Tristano-project er samvinnuverkefni Hauks Gröndal og Ólafs Jónssonar en efnisskráin er samansett af tónsmíðum eftir bandaríska jazzpíanistann Lennie Tristano sem ásamt lærisveinum sínum skapaði sérstakan stíl innan New York jazzins á 4., 5. og 6. áratug síðustu aldar. Ásamt Hauki og Ólafi, sem leika á saxófóna, leika Agnar Magnússon á píanó, Þorgrímur Jónsson á bassa og Scott McLemore á trommur.
The Tristano project is a labour of love for saxophonists Haukur Gröndal and Ólafur Jónsson and features the music of american pianist Lennie Tristano who’s incredible grasp of harmony was the key to clean up the complexities of bebop and present a style that defies cliches in descriptions. Let it suffice to say that it is indeed very cool music. Haukur and Ólafur are joined by bassist Þorgrímur Jónsson and drummer Scott McLemore.
