Tvær leiðandi jazzkonur, önnur frá Þýskalandi og hin frá Íslandi setjast við tvo flygla og samtalið hefst. Julia sem er á mála hjá ECM útgáfunni hlaut nýverið elstu og virtustu jazz viðurkenningu Þýsklands, SWR Jazzpreis. Sunna hlaut tónlistarverðlaunin sem flytjandi ársins í mars s.l. og er meðal þeirra íslensku jazzleikara sem hafa sig mest frammi á erlendri grundu. Tónleikar dúettsins á Jazzhátíð fara fram 12.ágúst í Silfurbergi kl 19:00. Þar munu þær leika eigin tónsmíðar og vega salt milli melódíu, stemmningar og hins óvænta.
Two leading women in jazz, one from Germany the other from Iceland take their place at two grand pianos and the conversation begins. Gunnlaugs is one of Iceland’s most internationally recognized jazz musicians and was chosen performer of the year by the Icelandic Music Awards. Hülsmann is an ECM recording artist and the 2016 recipent of the oldest and most prestigious jazz award in Germany, the SWR Jazzpreis. Together they will explore each others compositions straddling melody, moods and the unexpected.
