On August 30th, Reykjavík Jazz Festival offers you a unique screening of Buster Keaton’s 1926 silent comedy masterpiece, The General, combined with a live soundtrack performed on a B3-Hammond by the organist Kristján Hrannar Pálsson. This is a rare opportunity to experience the film the way people did during the Silent Era.
Kristján Hrannar has explored many genres, whether it being jazz, house, electronica or classical music. Earlier this year he premiered his organ composition about climate change. He works as the musical director and organist of the Independent Parish in Reykjavik as well as being the founder of the Óháði Choir, an unorthodox pop choir which has performed at gigs such as the Hatari release concert and the Icelandic Music Awards.
