“…through the mist you will notice the lurking volcanoes occasionally erupting…”
(Kjeld Frandsen, Berlingske Tidende)

When Danish Richard Andersson hooked up with Icelandic Oscar Gudjonsson and Matthias Hemstock more than 8 years ago, there was a strong and immediate sense of unity. Since then, audiences all around Scandinavia, has witnessed the continuous journey of the trio towards an even more unified expression. For this special occasion NOR has invited the world class ECM recording artist Jorge Rossy to join the trio on vibraphone.

Rossy has over the years been busy working as a drummer with highly acclaimed artists such as Brad Mehldau, Joshua Redman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Charlie Haden, Wayne Shorter, Lee Konitz and Joe Lovano. Recently Rossy debuted as band leader playing vibraphone and marimba on an ECM recording called Puerta.
“To have Jorge Rossy joining us is an honor. His melodic and beautiful sound will fit perfectly with our music and we are looking forward to experience the music unfold with him in the band.” Says band leader Richard Andersson.

NOR is a strong symbiosis between two Nordic cultures within a modern American jazz idiom, The trio plays the music of Andersson which is characterized by its clarity and simplicity. Yet the trio executes the music in a manner that is both complex and even avantgardistic at times. The goal for these three musicians is to bring forward music that is melodic and poetic in its foundation but holds the opportunity to seek more odd corners of their individual musicality.
