Iceland Liberation Orchestra was initially formed by reeds player and composer Haukur Gröndal. The orchestra premiered Gröndal’s “”Four Elements”” suite at Reykjavík Jazz two years ago to high acclaim and received two awards at the Icelandic Music Awards the following year having been nominated in the “”Best Jazz Ensemble”” and “”Best Jazz Composition”” categories respectively. The 2020 concert was aired on national television RÚV last March.

For this performance the orchestra is joined by prominent Finnish jazz pianist Kari Ikonen who is a progressive and adventurous virtuoso.

The program consists of new compositions and arrangements by Haukur Gröndal including the new suite “”Aether””.
